Isomer was not the song I was expecting from Correatown when I listened to the LA pop group’s most recent album, Pleiades. Most Correatown songs don’t make me want to curl up into a ball and hold my blankie. Isomer is a slow burn, inching forward ominously and has a markedly darker sound than even the group’s most somber tracks. Angela Correa’s tone pulls you down with a haunting confidence while guitars softly reverberate in the background until the final third of the song, where the pace speeds up and the band’s pop sensibilities take over. Enjoy.
